The jewellery from the 18th and 19th centuries was more valued because of their beauty, designers were using precious and semiprecious stone. In the picture below you can see they used pearls only to create a Triangular snood and it was easy to find pearls in old centuries.

In 20th centuries people are not focusing on buying expensive jewellery they buying what they can afford at the time because pearls are expensive as they are hard to find.
