Lady Gaga.

FASHION
Lady Gaga wearing artistic garments made by Nicola Formichetti who is a fashion director and fashion editor. He is most known as artistic director of the Italian fashion label Diesel. On the pictures below, it Lady Gaga rocking her own style which is designed by Nicola Formichetti. What interested me about these outfits, they all look unique.

Lady Gaga was wearing a meat dress, designed by Nicola Formichetti. This outfit is never forgettable because nobody ever come to the (VMA) awards wearing a meat dress but only Gaga. She was brave enough to wear that raw meat outfit from head to toes. Even the rose-red lipstick matches the colour of the meat. She has a small piece of meat on her blonde wig with a highlight of aquamarine blue. The meat on her shoes is wrapped with a cream white para code.

Nicola Formichetti style is very different from other fashion designers because he follows her vision and he also makes whats his fans ask for. Looking at this dress below, he used blue see-through fabric because blue is a cool colour and it blends with that black human hair design on the shoulder. Lady Gaga is wearing a blond wig and it matches her skin colour. Even her round black shades, look more elegant it matches with the colour of the outfit. Most of the dresses worn by Lady Gaga look more dramatic. What I have noticed about Gaga, the dresses that she wears, it draws attention to people. This dress was not meant to be worn, it was just a statement piece made by Nicola Formichetti, but Lady Gaga was interested to rock the dress on the red carpet.

Fashion and Jewellery.

Arline Fisch was born in Brooklyn, New York on 21 August 1931. She is an American artist. Arline Fisch studied silversmithing at school of art and crafts in 1966-67. She was inspired by Egyptian jewellery at the Metropolitan Museum of art. In the 1960s she started exploring weaving, knitting and crocheting a lightweight metal wire, then she introduced weaving techniques into a piece of jewellery.

Arline Fisch is one of my favourite artists that makes fashionable contemporary jewellery. If you look at figure one below, it one of my jewellery piece. It's a bracelet and glove, it made up of copper and fine silver wire. The way she used a textile technique allows a lightness of structure. The major function of her jewellery piece is to make the person who wears it looks more elegant and beautiful.

Dress and Jewellery

"In the 1980s Ted Polhemus suggested traditional societies have always known what westerners were beginning to rediscover the clothing culture"

This paper focuses on dresses and contemporary jewellery and explains how the dress and jewellery link together. It also talks about things that associate with them. In jewellery, it talks about accessories and in the dress, it talks about how fabric and fashion work together. Dress and jewellery collaborate together because when a fashion designer, decided to design a dress she makes sure that, the outfit that she made it has some jewellery option.

The way we dress, it can identify our personality. Accessories can change the garment look more stunning. Looking into fashion, every culture has its own traditional style. Indians wear saris and a lot of gold jewellery. Zulu and Xhosa they wear their traditional attire and decorate their body with colourful beads. Muslim wear a long dress and headscarf to cover their head and hair.

As was looking in dress and jewellery, I noticed that many artists like Arline Fisch were using fiber techniques to precious and non-precious material. In 1960, Arline Fisch was exploring knitting, weaving and crocheting by using metal wire.  As was looking at garments, I noticed that the fashion designer showcase their garment by using models. It some apply to the jewellery design, looking at Arline Fisch jewellery it bracelet and glove. She used textile techniques to allow lightness of structure, the jewellery is made from silver and coated copper which introduces an element of colour.

In figure 1, it a bracelet and glove it is my favourite jewellery because it looks like a glove with nails.

Nails petals

I made earrings by using long square transparent nails and silver jump rings.

Figure 1-Sishi, L,.(2020). Clear plastic nails.

On the picture below, I decided to add two shades of colour; because in the figure, you could not tell how many nails petals are there. I used rose-red and ruby-red acrylic gel colour. I didn't put colour on all the nails. I any left two transparent nails, because I wanted to put different colours.

Transforming nails into jewellery form.

I was trying to make different types of jewellery form by using plastic nails. I use the original shape of the nail by putting nails together in different size and different position. I decided to use plastic nails because I wanted to do something different by using nails petals shape. In figure 1, it's a picture with plastic nails in different sizes. I used purple professional square nail tips. Whereas in figure2, I started putting 4 nails together and I end up making a pendant. I keep on pitting nails in different positions, as you can see on figure3, I used jump rings to join my jewellery form. I ended up transforming my pendant into an earring, as you can see in the last picture in figure 4. As I'm looking into nails at the moment, my aim is to use the nails shapes and transform them in too jewellery forms.
